Homework

HOMEWORK AT WOODKIRK ACADEMY

In Years 7 and 8, you will be set homework regularly lesson by lesson, or some departments set a larger homework which should be completed more like a project.  Music, performing Arts and PE do not set homework to be completed at home but expect you to join some extra curricula clubs as their homework.

In Year 9, you will be expected to complete regular homework set by your class teacher which should take between 20 – 30 mins.

In Years 10 and 11, you should receive 30 mins homework for each hour's lesson. This should result in you having two hours homework each night. The homework will be checked and acknowledged in some way by your teachers and if you have gone above and beyond you will receive positive recognition. If you do not complete your homework tasks on time then appropriate consequences will be issued. For Years 10 and 11 this will be a homework detention for 1 hour.

In Years 12 and 13, students should be getting 1 hour of homework for every taught hour.  This can be preparation for the next lesson or learning, as well as exam preparation.
