Woodkirk takes to the slopes again

Over the Easter holidays, Woodkirk Academy's students took to the slopes in Colorado USA, in the resort of Winter Park. Students progressed and enhanced their skiing and enjoyed a fantastic experience in The States.

The group enjoyed six fantastic days on the powder slopes in America and the weather proved to be very kind to the skiing quality. Albeit very cold, some days seeing -12c, the resilience of our students gave them the energy to ski on through all conditions and temperatures to enjoy every bit of the week. All 53 students had a fantastic time, some long-lasting memories from a trip of a lifetime!

  • Leon, in Year 11, was declared the 'Top Skier' and 'Top Man'; such a gentlemen and used his skiing ability to support others rather than show off his personal talent!
  • Attention seeker award went to Mr Watson for dislocating his shoulder in a jealous action following several of his year group seeing out the end of the holiday on crutches: Annie and Grace!
  • Big thanks to ‘OT’ AKA Oliver, sixth former, who was like a 10th member of staff on the trip, he ensured all the students knew what was going on and ensured everyone kept to timings!! Well done, Oliver.
