Welcome to Woodkirk Academy

Woodkirk Academy was one of four education providers whose students were selected to perform in the 10th Annual BTEC Awards Showstopper Challenge.  The Showstopper Challenge is one of the highlights of the BTEC Awards, and provides a unique opportunity for students to showcase the skills they have learnt studying their BTEC course.

A recording of Year 12 BTEC Performing Arts students, Charlotte, Eliza, Ellen, Holly, Isabel and Sophie performing ‘You Will Be Found’ from ‘Dear Evan Hansen’ was streamed live at the Awards Ceremony.  Following an online vote, it was announced that the Woodkirk Academy students had won the Gold Award.

Mrs L Tosney, Head of Music & Performing Arts, said “the students were over the moon to receive this award in these unprecedented times.  A huge well done to them for a stunning performance.  The show must go on and they have definitely proved that despite the adversity of the pandemic.”
